Back for Black History Month 2020, our limited edition, Sankofa Adinkra Intention candle returns and is ready to help you remember, revere and celebrate those who went before us.
‘Sankofa’ is a word in the Twi language of Ghana that translates to mean “Go back and get it”.
‘San’ – to return
‘ko’ – to go
‘fa’ – to fetch, to seek and take.
Sankofa is often associated with the proverb:
“Se wo were fi na wosankofa a yenkyi,” which translates as: “It is not wrong to go back for that which you have forgotten.”
The Sankofa symbol has been adopted as an important symbol by the African Diaspora to represent the need to reflect on the past to build a successful future.
‘Go back and get it’
Dust or wipe clean with a cloth dampened with water once a week. Be sure not to leave water spots on the surface. These water spots will dry and could possibly leave permanent marks.
Clean stains/spots using the following steps: Dampen a soft cloth with a mixture of hot water and liquid dishwashing detergent. Wring the cloth as much as possible to remove excess liquid. Rub the surface lightly in a circular motion. Dry the surface immediately with a clean, soft towel.
